Chpt 2 Continued:

Knak

Mergrith

Radnon

Ayhatah: Ayhatah’s is a unique situation.  She was once a beautiful yet horrifying consort of Grathlak the Cruel.  However, after his abuse crossed a line which she refuses to disclose even to this day, she converted and eventually became an archangel to Klamaz.  This opened her up to the possibility of obtaining the role of keeper of the wind.  The only problem was, she still looked like a demon.  So Klamaz came together with Allnathia to create a spell that would permanently change Ayhatah’s form.  She now appears as an immaterial, beautiful woman with long, fair, and silver hair, gold eyes, ivory skin, and white robes.  She is always seen as an extension of wind itself and thus her hair and robes are always waving as if in a moderate breeze.  Any wind instrument is considered to hold sacred value and her holy symbol is a pan flute.

Bahumut: Male dragon deity who is said to be the father of all dragons.  Bahumut represents the epitome of wisdom, vigor, and responsibility.  A secret that is fervently rejected by both churches is that Bahumut is actually the same deity as the Grandfather Catfish.  In fact, the two churches don’t even agree on the deity’s appearance or holy substances.  Bahumut appears as a great silver eel with a large dorsal fin.  His holy symbol is a slab of ivory with various verses from his holy texts carved into it.  Ivory is considered holy by Bahumut’s followers.

Gome: Male deity associated with great strength and brute force.  He appears as a giant humanoid made from earth.  As a living embodiment of strength, Gome is a popular deity among ogres and the Orcs of the Purple Claw.  Mountains are holy among his clergy and Goma’s holy symbol is a stone hammer crushing a skull.

Halvame: Male archangel designated as deity and protector of the forests.  Halvame is also noted for three other major acts.  He fought beside Bahumut to allow the rest of the Celestial Alliance to retreat during the first assault on Hell, it was his idea for Klamaz to forge the artifacts that were given to Hans the Great, and he guarded the location of Atvoreth’s first tomb until the death of the great angel.  When he died, the duty of watching over the forests of Gallipae fell to Halba, Halvame’s father.

Knak: Male demigod of mercenaries, thugs, and assassins.  As a small ogre, Knak prefers spears and javelins tipped in poison, but he excels at and grants bonuses to just about any method of killing.  Henbane is a sacred plant to his followers, and Knak’s holy symbol is a hangman’s noose dripping in blood.

“Many Leg”: Many Leg is a genderless deity associated with traveling great distances (usually travel that takes a week or more).  He, or well, it is comprised of 32 of Samatoose’s old legs which split off long ago as the church and worshipers separated due to a disagreement on what travel types were most important.  Its holy symbol is a foot surrounded by the sun on the top, moon on the bottom, and two stars on each side.

Mergrith: Female elven deity of pure defensive perfection.  Mergrith preaches not to kill but to stay alive using all possible means.  She appears as a small heavily armored elven maiden with a shield and torch.  Fire is holy to Mergrith and her holy symbol is a campfire.

Morenoon: Male lich posing as a deity of undeath and magic.  The majority of Morenoon’s followers are undead and necromancers rebelling against the Lord of the Dead.  He preaches freedom of choice and promises to reveal dark magical secrets stolen from his former master the Lord of the Dead’s library.  However, what he practices is far from what he preaches as most followers end up as mindless slaves of a new lord.  His holy symbol is a pile of bones.

Nanweese: Male elven deity of spiritualism and magic.  Followers of Nanweese believe he built the first elves out of a single olive tree and gave them to his wife, Lady Moon.  She then supposedly grew them further in her garden, setting them free during the first millennium of Gallipae’s First World.  Nanweese appears as a tall male elf with green robes and holding a gnarly staff carved from the same olive tree as the first elves were made from. His holy symbol is a tome with a candle next to it.

Radnon: Male wolfman deity of thieves.  Radnon’s priests preach that theft offers comfort, fulfillment, and builds character.  He always appears as a cloaked figure with a shortbow, dagger, and usually a large bag of gems.  All gemstones are especially precious to Radnon’s followers, but rubies are holy.  The holy symbol of Radnon is a large ruby set in an intricate gold setting.

Rihyan: Female archangel devoted to grasslands and plains.  She has a large following in North America’s vast plains.  Depictions of the archangel vary widely, but it is agreed that a woven basket of grains is her holy symbol.

Ruke: Male deity of evil reptilian humanoids.  He is mainly associated with kobolds, goblins, and lizardmen.  In fact, it was Ruke who conspired with Balshtak the Brutal to create the first lizardmen from the monitor lizards in Gurd’s tomb.  Ruke’s holy symbol is an alligator surrounded by a square of four obsidian spears.  He is generally depicted as a kobold with three javelins and a light war pick.

Samatoose: Male deity of everyday travel and luck.  Samatoose was the original travel deity who once had 40 legs and the upper body of a human or possibly a mountainfolk or barbaric human.  However, long ago the church split and 32 of Samatoose’s legs broke off and formed Many Leg as a new deity.  His holy symbol is a wheel with the sun shining from behind to represent the favored travel time of his worshipers—within one day.  A little known fact (known by only the most favored and trusted priests) is that Many Leg created the Spider Queen and gave her the position of archangel (this was long before she became a demon assassin working for Aeruth the Dark).
